Lisa Tate massage workshops and training in Exeter

Workshops Training and Mentoring

I am passionate about the benefits of massage and touch and love to share my knowledge and experience - from a one day workshop teaching complete beginners how to massage family and friends to bespoke individual or small group CPD classes and mentoring for qualified therapists.

I have recently joined the tutor team at School of Bodywork in Exeter and am delighted to be teaching their brand new Oncology Massage Diploma, as well as their Pregnancy Massage Diploma and Indian Head Massage Diploma.

Individually tailored workshops for absolute beginners

I love introducing complete beginners to massage and offer an individually tailored couples massage workshop. I call it that but you don't have to be a couple, just two people wanting to learn and willing to give and receive massages.

These run as a half day session (3 hours) which gives you both plenty of time to learn the techniques and get comfortable with them. I also include a handbook that is sent out in advance so you can learn a bit about massage beforehand. I'll teach you the techniques using a massage couch but also show you how you can use those techniques at home using a bed, chair, sofa, footstool or table (whatever you have).  We can focus purely on relaxation or I can teach you specifically how to help ease each others neck and shoulder or back pain.

The cost for this is £75 per person.

“If you like massage this workshop is a must”

Bespoke massage training and mentoring for qualified therapists

I am committed to enabling qualified therapists to become technically sound and confident whilst retaining their own individual style.

As a massage or soft tissue therapist your initial qualification is just the start of your journey. As you progress, you will find you focus more on certain areas and types of clients and use some techniques more than others. We shouldn’t be afraid of finding our own unique way of working - the therapeutic relationship between the client and practitioner is key to successful clinical outcomes. Every client is different, with their own individual attitudes, needs and expectations so there is no “one size fits all” therapist – it is that match between what the client wants and the way you work that will keep clients coming back.

As your career develops you can gain further qualifications to increase your expertise, but you might find that individual training sessions are better focused to your specific needs and more time and cost effective.  I offer 1 to 1 mentoring or training sessions and small group CPD sessions for 2 or 4 therapists.  Each of these sessions will be tailor made for you, but could include:

  • refreshing certain skills you have either forgotten or have never really felt confident using
  • exploring ways of working with particular clients
  • helping you work out how to integrate recently learnt skills into your treatments
  • help determining what direction you want your career to take

"I am LOVING giving this treatment and absolutely loved the course. As I said it was the most welcoming, nurturing, fascinating and friendly course I've ever been on. So thank YOU Lisa!"

RH, Indian Head Massage Diploma

Perfect, went so fast. Brilliant manual. Really good online content, so thorough. I was so chuffed with every aspect of the pregnancy massage course! I feel it went above and beyond and really didn’t miss a thing. So incredible to see the focus around perinatal mental health. Thank you! JB

JB, Pregnancy massage diploma

"This was a brilliant day. I was a bit nervous, but Lisa listened to me and completely put me at ease. Lisa is very knowledgeable indeed, she imparts this knowledge easily, and I really enjoyed a lighthearted and non judgemental learning experience..."
